This course introduces participants to mindful awareness and provides the latest research on the role of mindfulness training in the treatment of pain. Learn how to explain pain and the benefits of mindful awareness to clients in simple language. Your Presenter:
CAROLYN McMANUS, PT, MS, MA, holds Master’s degrees in Physical Therapy and Psychology and has specialized in mind-body treatment approaches for people with chronic conditions throughout her career of over 30 years. She has taught Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to patients at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA since 1998 and has taught MBSR and Loving Kindness Meditation to veterans at the Puget Sound VA since 2009. She is an instructor in research, examining the roles of mindfulness and kindness meditation in the treatment of pain and PTSD, and presents regularly to professional local, state, and national audiences.
