Description: Evolving professional standards on cultural competency make this webinar an indispensable resource for the behavioral health clinician.

Full Description:
Ethics codes of all behavioral health professions now demand that their members achieve a certain level of cultural competency. Insurance companies are now also specifying it as a part of responsible professional work. But what exactly does cultural competency entail?

In this webinar, Dr. Hedges examines the core concepts and theories that comprise the foundational knowledge for the culturally competent professional. Participants will decipher the meanings of key terms that should become part of their vocabulary. They will also review the tenets of multiculturalism as a fourth force in psychology. Participants will engage in self-assessment with regard to their own cultural biases and prejudices, a necessary step to overcoming them within the therapeutic setting.
