Description: Behind the pain of IPV, there is a story in the victims’ lives. Help them see how they got here and how the next chapter can be much safer and happier.

Full Description:
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) cuts across all race, ethnic, class, and economic boundaries. IPV and behavioral health challenges are intricately interwoven and the impact on health and well-being is well documented. However, in general practice the victims of such violence often get overlooked and/or misdiagnosed.

The goal of this webinar is to sensitize behavioral health practitioners to the concept of IPV and to offer practical tips for assisting their clients. At the conclusion of the webinar, participants will be familiar with the types of IPV that clients might experience and the outcomes of these experiences (which may include depression, anxiety, and PTSD). A special segment of the webinar will be devoted to marginalized groups such as women of color, pregnant women, teens, and men.

Course Includes:
Live Q&A
Presentation Handout
Post session recording access
CE Credit

What You Will Learn:
Explain Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) typologies, such as Lenore Walker’s Power and Control Wheel
Contrast the various types of IPV, including physical, psychological, sexual, and threats
Describe the relationship of adverse childhood experiences and IPV
Analyze the connection between IPV and mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD
Identify groups that require special consideration when addressing IPV
