How to Do a Webinar – Tips For Your First Webinar

September 23rd, 2011

Webinars are a great way to educate your target market, train your customers, generate revenue, presell products and services as well as create information products.  So if you decide to go down this road, it is important to know how to do a webinar so that you can get as much success from it as you can.  This article discusses the basics on how to do your first webinar, the products and services you would need in order to produce a successful webinar.  Read on for more!

Webinars are excellent tools for marketing and for building your credibility as an expert in your field. They even make great tools if all you are doing is training! But they can be frightening to the new information marketer or learning creator.

But they don’t need to be. There is no reason for being afraid of creating webinars.

Webinars come in many flavors, but they are all easy to create and relatively quick to design and develop. And as you become more capable and comfortable they only become easier!

Here are seven tips on how to do your first webinar:

1. Always know your target audience. Everything — and I do mean everything — will flow from this knowledge. Your target audience will define the problem, and much of the solution. It will define how you market your webinar. It will define what type of webinar you are going to produce. It will define how long your webinar can be or needs to be. You cannot overestimate the value of knowing your target audience.

2. Always know why you are doing your webinar. I know it sounds silly, but you’d be surprised how many people can’t get this straight. There are three major types of webinars. There is the sales webinar. There is the learning content or training webinar. And there is the hybrid. Each of these types is different and imposes its own style and limitations. Mix them up and your webinar will fail to achieve its goals.

3. Spend enough time on planning, designing and preparing your webinar. This cannot be emphasized enough. Many people want to rush through and just sit down to write a seminar. Some gurus try to minimize this in a foolish bid to make webinars seem easy. But the truth is for every hour you spend in planning, designing and preparing your webinar you’ll increase both response and the chances of success.

4. Practice, practice, practice. Then practice some more. This applies on many levels. Practice in general will help you to become comfortable speaking to an audience that isn’t able to give you feedback. Practicing your webinar will help you to identify any weaknesses. It will also help you to ensure your timing is reasonable and that you have the material down pat.

5. One of the biggest mistakes — other than mixing up learning and sales webinars — is to overdo your slides. Slides (such as those produced by Microsoft’s PowerPoint) are meant to be speaking hints and to anchor your audience’s understanding. They are not meant to be notes. Turning them into notes is a quick way to make your audience go to sleep. Remember that you are the star of the webinar — not your slides.

6. Webinars aren’t usually done with webcams turned on. But your audience can see you none-the-less. They see you through your voice, and through your passion. So let your passion come through. In fact, step it up fifty percent. Always stand when you are talking. Smile and walk around. Use your body to communicate — your voice will follow along.

7. If you’re going to walk around though you need to have the right microphone for the job. In fact, you always need the right microphone. There are two types of microphones you can use. The first is the headphone or headset. The second is the unidirectional clip microphone. If you are going to walk around consider a wireless version. Either will work. But a desktop or omnidirectional microphone won’t.

Host A Webinar For Small Business Success

August 22nd, 2011

Hosting a webinar is a great way to achieve a number of different results.  It’s a great way to generate additional revenue, be a lead generator for getting new clients and customers, and a way to educate your current client and customers.  Each desired result requires a different strategy to have in place.  There are many different tools and services available that can help you to implement this strategy so that you can create a successful webinar event.  This article discusses how to host a webinar in general that will give more success to your business, specifically the coaching business…  Read on for more!

Attracting more coaching clients with webinars isn’t just for coaching gurus and big wigs. Webinars are also for small businesses like yours. Even if it’s “just you” that won’t stop you from having a very successful, fun, exciting and informative webinar for your clients or potential clients.

You have something to share, and this is an excellent way to do it. What’s more, it’s not that difficult to do. It’s not even expensive and you don’t have to be all that technically educated.

Through webinars you can reach out to your clients or potential clients no matter where they live and work in a very personal manner.

Many people feel that the Internet is a cold place but with the ability for a client to hear your voice, and even see your face, this makes the event more personal than an email or newsletter.

Don’t get me wrong those are important too but webinars will bring your business to that next professional level that allows you to truly wow your clients and potential clients.

Webinars can feel like a lot of work, but the work will be worth it.

You have to figure out what technology you’re going to use, what product or service you will promote, or what topic you want to teach.

In addition you have to decide how to market the event, and whether or not you’re going to charge or offer a free event. There are so many decisions to be made, but once you do one, you’ll be hooked.

Educate yourself about all your choices, and best practices. Do not try to reinvent the wheel. Sure, add your own punch, but take the advice of experts and your event will go a lot smoother.

Do your due diligence when studying webinar software and technology offerings. There is a lot of variety in the ability of the software, as well as the prices of the software. Make a list of your needs while you’re evaluating the software so you can check it off.

Webinars enable you to exponentially increase your online presence, demonstrate your knowledge establishing yourself as an expert while creating lasting relationships with your clients and potential clients. Not to mention the fact that you’re going to have fun doing it.

It’ll be one of the most fun hours you spend sharing what you love with others. Once you give one webinar, you’re going to want to offer more.

Here is an article titled: “Tips to Host a Successful Webinar”

Do you have tips and advice you’d love to share with potential clients? Do you wish to share these tips with your prospects in a step-by-step, visual process? If so, then you’re the perfect candidate to host a webinar.

A webinar is beneficial for all parties involved. Participants benefit from your valuable tips and advice, while you benefit from interaction with potential clients and position yourself as an expert. Hosting a monthly web conference doesn’t have to cost you a ton of money, cause you stress, or take a lot of your time.

See below for what you’ll need to host a successful webinar:

A Webinar Hosting Platform:There are many great web conference hosting platforms to choose from, including GoToWebinar, Glance, Yugma, AccuConference, WebEx, and even Skype, which works for small meetings.

Many business owners prefer GoToWebinar since it offers a variety of easy-to-use features including full-service registration, automated email templates, prewebinar practice sessions, audio conferencing via phone and computer, recording, drawing tools, chat, and much more.

A Topic: If you don’t already have a topic in mind for your web conference, do some market research on social media platforms, blogs, discussion forums, and news hubs to see what your target audience is in need of / interested in. Ask questions on these platforms, and observe what your market is talking about. Your conference topic should help your audience solve a problem they are currently facing.

For example, if you own a travel company that specializes in planning African safari vacations, you might consider hosting a webinar on “Where to Go on Safari,” “What to Pack on Safari,” or “Inaccurate Myths about Safaris.”

An Outline: Once you have your topic, it’s time to create a detailed outline. Break your topic discussion down into sections, and add discussion points below each section. I recommend writing notes for yourself in the outline and staying away from scripting your webinar. When you read from a script, it sounds very unnatural and rigid. An unscripted-yet directed-web conference allows you more freedom to expand on a topic and perform comfortably without constraints.

Webinar Slides: When creating your slides for your web conference, try not to overcrowd them with words. The goal is to show your audience what you are referring to, not repeat what you’re saying in words. Images, screen grabs, and graphics enable participants to visualize what you are referring to during your talk and have an attention-grabbing quality.

For example, if you want to break down a process to your viewers, using graphics with arrows and charts is a great way to orient viewers and help them to visualize the process.

Thank-You Page / Email: After people have signed up for your event, they should see a thank-you message appear after they have submitted their registration form. Your webinar hosting platform most likely has features that automatically pull up a thank-you page after participants register.

In addition to a thank-you page, thank participants via an automated thank-you email that also includes webinar access information, which your webinar hosting platform should also generate.

Reminder Email: 24-hours before your webinar goes live, send out an automated reminder email to participants. This automated email will be generated from your webinar hosting platform, providing participants with their webinar access information.

A Phone: Your phone is the communication device you use to do your talk. Webinar participants usually don’t have to dial into the talk. Most webinar platforms enable participants to listen and view the webinar at the same time, all from their computer.

Here is an Article titled “Hosting a Webinar – Is it Really That Difficult?

You are probably asking what a webinar is and how you could benefit from hosting one. Basically, a webinar which is also known as video conferencing is where you can interact with people through phone or voice chat programs only. This is used by companies to promote their products and services to their customers without having in contact with them face to face.

When you are hosting a webinar, it is vital to think of good strategy on how you are going to do it. Being the host, you have to be always prepared for anything. You need to understand that you must deliver to your participants a clear and concise subject matter and ensure that everyone participates in the discussion. To help you with the things that you need to do with regards to hosting a webinar, here are some guidelines for you to follow.

1. Select a reliable webinar company. If you want to have a good presentation, you need to have a partner which will help you in delivering any information to your participants efficiently. There are a lot of webinar companies that you can choose from and make sure that before you pick one, read what they can offer. In addition, check on the prices but never fail to check on the value.

2. Ask the help of a consultant. There are a lot of webinar companies that provide the assistance of their consultant. They will help you set up your webinar to prevent any unnecessary destruction and make sure that everything will turn our right. They will also explain to you in detail on how the system works and how to operate it. Also, they are present during the entire process of your webinar hosting for them to assist you whenever you will encounter any unexpected problem with the system.

3. Keep a well-detailed content. When holding a conference, keep in mind that your participants must clearly and directly understand your point. So, it is important that you have prepared for this conference very carefully.

4. Ensure that everything is in the right place. To be able to start your webinar hosting well, make sure that everything is put in their proper position. You must add on a welcome slide so that your participants will know that they are in the proper place. It is also good if you provide them some tips which could be helpful for them. You can include how the system works and how are they going to make use of the webinar features. Also, explaining the various parts of webinar could be beneficial for you so as to guide your participants on what they are going to expect.

Truly, it is rewarding if you have made your webinar hosting a success. Hosting a webinar can be worrying, especially if it is your first time to do it. But with these simple tips, at least you have now an idea on how you are going to host a webinar which at the end, very successful.

Here is an article titled “Why Should You Offer Webinars in Your Business”

A “webinar” is a presentation delivered over the Web rather than face to face (i.e. Web + seminar). Webinars are the hot new way to deliver information, especially in this time of climate change awareness, corporate cost-cutting, emphasis on lifestyle and global access.

The two most obvious benefits of webinars are the savings in time and expenses – for both you and your participants. Everything is done from the comfort of your home or office; and the same applies for your audience.

But webinars offer more – much more. In fact, here are twenty-one other benefits of webinars.

  1. No geographical boundaries: You can reach the world, not just your own town, city or country.
  2. Build loyalty with existing clients: It’s an easy, low-cost leveraged way to add value and maintain your relationship.
  3. Invite prospects to attend: It’s a low-cost way to give them an experience of you before they “buy” you.
  4. Run it with small numbers: You don’t have to worry about getting minimum numbers to manage venues, handouts, catering and the like.
  5. Run it with large numbers: Again, you don’t have to worry about finding and booking a suitable venue, managing catering, allowing for parking, arranging the room, printing (or carrying!) enough handouts, and the like.
  6. Record it to create instant products: Many webinar services have a recording feature built in, so recording your webinar is a breeze. You can then turn that recording into a product – typically a DVD, video podcast or on-line video.
  7. Give people more access to you: A webinar is a low-cost way to interact with many people at the same time, while still offering great value.
  8. Point of difference: Few infopreneurs are using them; and even fewer are using them well. You can stand out by adding them to your service mix.
  9. Make a difference: Because of the global possibilities, you can reach people beyond your borders. And because of the low cost, you can reach people who wouldn’t be able to afford your other services.
  10. Do market research: Before each webinar, survey the attendees to discover their biggest questions, concerns, challenges and aspirations about your topic. This becomes invaluable market research for you, not just for the webinar itself but for your business in general.
  11. Test out new material: Because there’s less visual focus on you than in other presentation modes, you don’t have to spend as much time on stage presence. Instead, you can focus on the content, structure and flow. You can test new material and ask for feedback. You can even use copious notes, mind maps and other speaker aids, because you’re presenting from the privacy of your office.
  12. Live access for members-only site: If you run a membership site, it’s easy to lose the personal connection, which might have been the reason they signed up in the first place. One way to get back that personal connection, and still do it in a leveraged way, is through webinars.
  13. Provide product support: Use webinars to answer customer questions, explain how they can use the product more effectively, and get feedback for future enhancements.
  14. Supplement live events: Some webinars will replace live events, while others supplement them. For example, if you run a training program, it’s easy to offer a follow-up webinar for participants, say, 90 days later.
  15. Expose your database to guest experts: You don’t have to be the star of all your webinars. It’s the ideal format for you to bring in a guest presenter – somebody who serves the same market, but with a different area of expertise.
  16. Expose joint venture partners to your database: If you have a strong database and you know somebody else with a product ideally suited for that database, bring them in as a guest on a webinar. Because of the personal interaction, this is more effective than, say, just promoting their product in your newsletter or on your Web site.
  17. Easy to offer as a bonus / incentive: Offer webinar “seats” to anybody for any reason – for example, as a bonus for somebody who buys a product by a certain date; or an incentive for clients to make a booking before the end of the financial year.
  18. Short lead time: Because the logistics of webinars are so simple, you don’t have to plan them months in advance.
  19. Develop an on-line arm to your business: You become less committed to face-to-face presentations, giving you more opportunities for travel, leisure time and flexibility in your work flow.
  20. Replace high-cost face-to-face presentations in a tough economy: You can retain clients who would have otherwise cancelled bookings.
  21. Remain competitive: You manage the threat of other experts delivering your message to your clients over the Internet, which means you remain competitive in this “flat” world.

With all these benefits, why aren’t you adding webinars to your service offerings?
